Abstract A measurement is presented of elastic deeply virtual Compton scattering $\gamma^* p ightarrow \gamma p$ for HERA II data, using $e^+ p$ collision data corresponding to a luminosity of 40.3 pb$^{-1}$ and 100.8 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^- p$ data. The cross section is measured as a function of the photon virtuality, $Q^{\,2}$, the invariant mass of the $\gamma-p$ system, $W$, and differentially in the squared momentum transfer at the proton vertex, $t$, in the kinematic range $6.5~<~Q^{\,2}~<~100\,{ m GeV}^2$, $30~<~W~<~140\,{ m GeV}$ and $|t|~<~1\,{ m GeV}^2$. These measurements are shown to be in agreement with previous HERA I cross sections obtained with the H1 detector. The $W$ dependence is extracted for two values of $Q^2$ and, for the first time, the skeewing factor $R$ is extracted and its kinematic dependences are studied. First studies of the charge asymetry are also shown.
